The Bible Proves Evolution!
No kidding, the Bible does supports the theory of evolution.
In the garden of Eden God placed every tree that
is pleasant to look at and good for food. First, the lollypop tree,
then the ice cream cone tree, the apple tree - all good to look at and
good to eat. Except that darn old tree of the knowledge of good and
evil.
Right there in the midst of the garden stood a very
special tree, the Tree of Life.
No doubt this tree produced fruit to rejuvenate humans
and ward off the effects of aging.
And there, at the end of the Bible, in God's heavenly
paradise, grows another
special tree. "In the midst of heaven was there
the tree of life, which gave twelve manner
of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree
were for the healing of the nations."
"And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in that heavenly place...for the Lord God gives them light: and his servants shall reign for ever and ever..."
And, finally, there on Calvary, just outside the gates of Jerusalem and at the center of human history, so to speak, stands the tree of suffering where Jesus died and defined forever, with his blood, the forgiving nature of God. And, made it clear if Jesus is the Messiah and Son of God he is one best understood in terms of a defeated, Suffering Servant. Calvary's tree rightly continues today as the universal symbol of the faith founded by Jesus Christ. Truly, yet another Tree of Life.
God, I'm glad to occasionally get away from sterile
plastic. Let me eat my meals off a
an oak table and admire its shiny rich grain.
And end my day by jumping into a wooden
bed with its rich finish and ornately carved surfaces.
Just remembered, think I'll end my days, too, and jump into a nicely finished
mahogany casket. Ditch the plastics and leave the lethal petroleum in the
ground!
And back to trees. It's no accident the tree is a symbol often popping up in the great stories and myths of Christianity. TREES R US. Its part of our primordial history, our ancient bulwark and shield. Way back when when australeopithecus was knee high to a grasshopper.
And I have the pic to prove it. Modern pic
suggesting ancient realities for early man.

Caption: Chimpanzees are built for climbing trees: their
long arms, keen eyesight
and opposable thumbs on both hands and feet help them navigate
the high treetops in search of fruit, on a hunt, or when building
their nests to bed down for the night.
Yep,
I'm suggesting early man also, like the chimp very close to him on
the evolutionary tree/bush, appreciated the
survival value hugging a tree. It was no accident a few
hundered thousand years later, homo chimps could not resist a nod
of gratitude toward trees by incorporating them in his grandest, most cherished
myths - in the Holy Bible.
It all sure makes me think evolution is not
a theory but a grand reality.
Yes, indeedy, right from the beginning our DNA
programmed us to love trees. It's something about shade, comfort and security.
Even ULTIMATE and eternal security!
