From a human
perspective the flea ranks down
there with
a snake's belly.
But in the
creative wisdom of God this wee
critter has
its purpose and ecological niche.
In ancient
times when Australopithecus was knee-
high to Tyrannosaurus
Rex the flea may have
played an
important role in our social
evolution.
And the flea
may have helped give us a
large supply
of beautiful blondes which
gentlemen
prefer.
This Week magazine (July 18) in Britain
quotes a reader's letter to The Guardian
"Blonde hair is attractive...because it
is easier to see if there are any
parasites in blonde-coloured hair. In
evolutionary terms, when offered two
potential mates which appear equally
vigorous and healthy, a suitor should
choose the blonde because their
appearance is less likely to deceive.
Bleaching your hair is just a way of
saying: 'Don't worry, big boy - you
won't pick up anything nasty!'"
Praise the
Lord for fleas and blondes!
